Our New Pastor Pastor Ray W. Long III completed his seminary training at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in June,2006 completing his vicarage in Sedalia, Missouri. On June 19, he accepted a call to St.Philip Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland Ohio. He is our sixth pastor and began his pastoral duties July 30,2006. He brings to St Philip an impressive background of experiences which promises to bring much strength of conviction and boldness of faith to our Church and the community. His background includes service in the United States Air force which began in 1981. He is married to Harla, and has two children, daughter Rayna and son Jared. Our family moved every two or three years, and was involved with churches at each of those locations. Our experiences at those churches, in a variety of environments, should benefit Saint Philip. At past churches, my involvement, before entering Seminary training, included the following: · Chairman of Evangelism Board · Chairman of Public Relations · Sunday School Teacher (Children, Youth, Adult) · Confirmation Instructor · VBS Teacher 3^rd & 4^th Grade · Web Master · God and Country Mentor · Call Committee Member · Deacon · Narrative Reader with Pastor, on occasion God caused me to consider becoming a pastor about seven years before entering Seminary training. I wrestled with God for many years, not believing God could mean for me to enter this service. After much exhaustive discernment, God made me willing. I pray that God can make use of my experience in business management, training, coordination, planning, development, and leadership. May the Spirit keep me able, for His use.
